Professor Keen explains the private debt dynamics that caused both the Great Depression and the Great Recession. The Great Recession will end when private debt is much lower than it is now–even though it’s fallen by 30% of GDP since the peak, it’s still 100% higher than at the start of the Great Depression. Jörg Guido Hülsmann is a German economist and one of the leading modern-day proponents of the Austrian School, and was heavily influenced by Ludwig von Mises and is an anarcho-capitalist within the tradition of Murray Rothbard. He is a professor of economics at the University of Angers in France and is a senior faculty member of the Ludwig von Mises Institute.
